1. Kickboxing and Boxing Are Different

2. You Will Get Hurt

3. Use Proper Gear
Depending on the class you are involved in or who you are training with, you’ll need to make sure to invest in the proper gear. It’s extremely important to be aware of how to hold your body before attempting to kick box. If you’re taking a class, your instructor will help you learn the basics, but it’s up to you to make the position habitual.
5. Keep Relaxed
One thing that’s very important to keep in mind all throughout your training is how tense your muscles are. Too much tension can lead to injury, and will not add to your punching or kicking power. Staying loose in your moves and supplying short bursts of tension much like a spring will improve your attacks and keep you from overextending.
6. Endurance is Important
You may hope that your weekly kickboxing class will be enough to get you in shape, but there’s one major problem with that theory. Kickboxing is an extremely intense activity, and you will have a difficult time making it through even one match if your endurance isn’t up to speed. You’ll need to engage in cardio training alongside your kickboxing if you’re going to get the most out of your matches.
7. Muscle Building is Extra
Along with that, you cannot count on kickboxing alone to bulk you up. You will certainly earn some muscle over time, but you’ll become a much more effective fighter (and exerciser) if you spend some quality time with your muscles. Schedule some extra time for weight training every week, focusing on your arms, legs, and abdomen. It won’t take you long after starting to realize how many areas of your body you work, so the more overall strength you can build the better.
